Things I like:
-The implement is very sturdy with almost no flex. I can lift fairly heavy foods, such as an over-sized hamburger or a pan seared steak, without worrying that the blade or handle will twist and send the food sliding off.
-I never found myself flicking food or little drops of oil by accident (a constant problem when I use my cheap highly flexible nylon spatulas.)
-The edge of the blade is nicely bevelled, so it slides under the edges of foods pretty easily.
On the fence about:
-The blade is simply HUGE. That's fine for a single item like a steak in a large skillet. It's a bit awkward, though, when you are trying to turn one blintz or pancake while leaving the rest undisturbed.
I don't like:
-The surface of the blade isn't very slippery. As a result, it's actually not all that useful for pancakes. I kept folding the pancakes in half while trying to get the blade underneath them to turn them. I found I got slightly better results by greasing the blade, but it was still very frustrating.
All in all, I'd recommend this implement when you need muscle rather than delicacy. It would be good for something like Chicken Cordon Bleu or an industrial sized quantity of stir fried vegetables. I hated it for pancakes--kind of ironic, as it's sold as a pancake turner.

This has a good size handle (9-1/2") and a wide surface (5-1/2" side to side). It's 5" from front to back of the turner surface. It's nice and sturdy and is tapered to slide under whatever you want to turn. It's somewhat flexible, but rigid enough to pick up an omelet and place it on the plate. I am replacing an older Turner from Calphalon with this one and yes the old one got a tattered edge as I expect this one will as well. At such time, I will buy another for 8 bucks. If I didn't need to replace it every year or two, I'd give it 5 stars.

i was having issues with food falling off my old turners so i thought thats a nice large one. does a great job of holding pancakes and so many other foods like fries and fish sticks without dropping them back on the baking sheet or worse. the floor. it also doesnt require me to burn my fingers trying to pick the stuff back up since it doesnt fall off! well made worth the extra price for its bonuses. find myself using it daily along with my calphalan fork and oven mitts.

We have previously owned Calpahalon nylon utensils and were impressed with them enough to replace them with Calphalon nylon utensils again (we only needed to replace our originals since someone melted the tips of a couple of the turners (mind you those were rated to 400 degrees, so this was a case of user error)). They are sturdy enough to handle any cooking we have used them for and are of excellent quality. On the turners, the edges of the blade are tapered so that they will slide under whatever you are cooking. This ensures that you won't destroy that grilled cheese sandwich or pancake when you need to flip it. The only caveat is that you also need to make sure that you are careful with what you scrape from a pan, as thoroughly stuck items could damage the edges (probably not much of a concern if you are using these on non-stick pans). The blade on this turner is HUGE. It is literally 5.5 inches wide. I am not sure that we need all of that surface area but some might. I wish the handles were as thin as they used to be, but this is a relatively minor issue. All in all, a good purchase.

I use this with my nonstick frying pans. It's the perfect size to flip pancakes. It hasn't melted as so many of my other cheaper products have. I purchased a bunch of the Calphalon products and I love all of them.
I'd highly recommend this product.
