 "Cute but not useable!" 2010-05-01
By Lucy Linda (Texas)
I bought these and had high hopes, but upon the first use it was evident they were not going to work. They lean to the side of the handle. They do not sit up straight. The handle is too high for most lids, even with spray they stick and they just are not what they are marketed to be. My advice is "Don't buy"

 "Not recommended" 2010-02-05
By Lee M (Vancouver, WA)
I bought these as well as the "Pod" silicone poachers and tested both. The Pod poachers win hands-down. In the Daisy, eggs did not set up even after 10 minutes of poaching. During two separate uses, we ultimately ended up gently tipping the egg into the simmering water to finish the poaching process.

Also, despite using a generous amount of cooking spray, bits of egg stuck in all the little corners, requiring fingernail "scraping" even during the cleaning process.

I thought the little handles would be helpful in settling and removing the poachers from the water. However, unless you have a well-domed lid for your pan, you have to get pretty close to the simmering water to tilt the handle down in order to cover the eggs during the cooking process (and to tilt the handle back up for lifting the eggs).

We're getting rid of these, and buying another set of the Pod poachers.

 "Great quality" 2010-01-06
By Scott R. Weaver (Riverside, CA)
As the others have said, this product is attractive, heavy duty, and an excellent buy. It is plenty large to hold everything from a spoon, to a spatula, to a ladel. I can't ask for a better product.

"Great for mixing No-Knead Bread dough" 2010-01-28
By Roy G. Biv (Seattle, WA United States)
This spatula is fantastic when you need something really sturdy. It's true that the handle is not as comfortable as others such as the KitchenAid Spoon Spatula Scraper, which we also have. The KitchenAid is also better for scraping the sides of a bowl.

But this spatula can't be beat for our main use: stirring (and later folding) the "dough" for the revolutionary No-Knead Bread invented by Jim Lahey and popularized by Mark Bittman. We used to mix the gooey dough with our hands, as per the recipe, but it's much faster to do the mixing with this strong, relatively inflexible spatula spoon.

It's also better whenever you're making something with a stiff dough.

Other reviewers have made reference to the "low price" -- but I suspect they bought this item at a price like I paid. I think I paid a bizarrely low $3; then I bought one as a gift for, I think, $6. I initially bought it because of the price. If I were making No-Knead Bread and had lost the one I own, I'd buy it again, even at its current $13.70 price.

"Very nice spatula - but the silicone could be a little softer." 2010-01-08
By Todd Gilbert
Very nice spatula - well constructed and commercial grade. The silicone could be a bit softer though - this isn't the right tool for the job and I had to buy some cheapies to do more everyday scraping.

"Stainless handle is forever...good price too!" 2009-12-04
By Y. R. Wu (Ann Arbor, Michigan)
Unless you're big on coordinating colors, this is the one to get Get a few while you're at it. We have four of different sizes and they're always in the dishwasher...

We have some Le Crusuet "Spoonolas" and they are identical except that the handle is wood and you can get them in some pretty nifty colors. The downside is the wooden handle starts to look iffy after umpteen trips through the dishwasher. I haven't broken any of their handles, but having broken a number of wooden spoons over the years, it's just a matter of time.

The stainless handle looks as good now as it did when we bought it and I tend to think it's also more sanitary than wood.

"Great spatula, not great handle" 2009-01-29
By K. Nelson
I wanted a nice firm spoon spatula and this one is great as far as the head goes. But the handle is very user un-friendly as it is thin and wide and doesn't feel natural while stirring.

 "Pretty Nice" 2008-10-23
By Rama Lama
This silicone spatula is heavy duty, very thick silicone. Unfortunately, this means it isn't as flexible as I like for things like scraping a bowl when baking. This will be a very good multipurpose item though, it can be used for probably anything that you would normally use a wooden spoon for. The handle isn't the most comfortable out there, but it is sturdy. It is rated heat proof up to 500 F, which is great in case you for some reason forget about it in a pot (but the handle will probably be hot if touching the pan). Overall, it's a well constructed item, and it will certainly get use in the kitchen even if you are just throwing it in your basket to get free shipping (like me).

"fell apart after 10 months" 2009-10-14
By jilla
I do like it and it was very useful, but after 10 months it was dropped and the tray fell off the stand. I can still use it, but the tray doesn't sit snugly in the stand all by itself and it's not that useful anymore.

 "Nice and reasonably priced" 2009-09-01
By R. Malhotra (Washington DC)
As always, I read several reviews before buying this spoon rest. It's reasonably nice-looking, I am satisfied with the purchase.

"The tray doesn't fall apart" 2009-04-12
By T. LEE (California)
I've been using it for several months now. It's good but wish the try falled apart for easy cleaning.

 "Works very well" 2009-02-04
By lesliegl (New England)
This item does almost everything I'd want it to do - Holds spoons well, washes beautifully in the dishwasher, is attractive. The only shortfall is that it doesn't balance on my full-gridded stovetop, so it has to sit on the counter. Not a big deal.

 "Great spoon rest" 2008-10-25
By Lawrence Brown (California)
works great for everything. Its actually a bit shorter and fatter than it appears in the picture but works very well for all sorts of things, keeps the mess off the stove and keeps foods from mingling on the spoons

"Fine mesh captures splatter really well" 2009-11-23

Fine mesh captures splatter really well. The perimeter weight holds the screen on the pan securely. The relatively short handle is unobtrusive for storage.

Bought this after being disappointed with the Oxo screen.

"It's a Good Spoon Rest, but do you really need it?" 2005-12-05
By Vyshtia (CA, USA)
I bought this before I really started getting into cooking, thinking that it was a good idea to have a spoon rest so the counter doesn't get dirty. But now that I cook a lot, the only thing this thing does is make it so I have one more thing to wash.

The item itself is good quality and easy to clean, so if you want a single spoon rest - I would recommend the item. It's also useful if you're making a single pot meal where you really are only using one utensil - then that ONE utensil can rest here.

"Nice looking, roomy, sturdy spoon rest..." 2004-03-05
By (Florida)
Really nice, quality spoon rest with plenty of room for different sized cooking utensils. My only problem with it..and the reason I knocked off a star is..Amazon sent me a damaged one and it's not worth sending back. They really need to practice quality control..I've seen this complaint on many items and seriously wonder if they buy loads of "seconds" to make money...? It's a nice spoon rest however, and worth the money.

 "I love it!" 2003-11-08
By Maine Gal (Maine)
This is THE best spoon rest! It will accommodate any cooking utensil -- large or small. I use it every day. It goes into the dishwasher and comes out looking shinny and new. It sits on my counter next to the stove, looks great and is always ready for use. I'm going to order three more for Christmas presents. A truly great product.

 "Perfect design and function" 2003-05-31
By T. Reinhardt (east coast)
This is an excellent item! First I like that it is stainless steel so that if anything gets stuck on it you can just *brillo* is off. The stainless finish makes it very arractive and so much better looking than most kitchy-looking spoon holders. Altho this is more of a utensil holder...its big. Its a great fit for wooden spoons, the heat-resistant spatulas, large spoons..etc. It will even accomodate ladles altho they pretty much rest on it, as opposed to rest in it.

This unit is sturdy and weighty. It doesnt move around or tip when you put on a utensil. I have put it in the dishwasher with no problem.

This would be an excellent item for someone setting up a kitchen, a kitchen themed gift basket, or a kitchen themed housewarming gift.

It's really an excellent item

 "It's BIIIIG!" 2000-11-24
By Ian Stark (Saint Paul, MN United States)
Seriously, this spoon-rest is bigger than you think it is going to be. Which in my mind is a good thing because when you put your drippy sloppy utensils on it ... it needs to collect all the glop.

It washes up great in the dishwasher too!

 "Perfect." 2009-06-14
By M. M. Poor (Forney, TX United States)
I found this item when searching for an Oneida stainless steel one that looked almost identical, though heavier. As it turns out, this was was almost identical, only it was lighter and easier to use. It seems to wash and wear well in spite of being light. I intend to buy a few more, as it has been ideal for turning pancakes, eggs, and even burgers in the skillet. The price was also attractive.

 "REALLY LIKE IT!!!" 2009-01-18
By Judy Reitz (Katy, Texas)
I am really impressed with this Amco Slotted Spatula - It really feeels good in the hand - the weight is nice and it feels balanced. I was concerned about the handle heating, but it has not been an issue. I like this slotted spatula more than others(more expensive) that I own. I reach for it first!

 "Exactly as depicted." 2008-12-03

 "not what I expected." 2009-11-02
By John D (Carlsbad, Ca)
I had hoped the spatula would serve a multi-purpose role, but eggs love to adhere to the leading edge no matter what I use to anoint the tip. I've tried Pam, butter, Can't Believe It's not Butter - both spray and tub, all with the same failure-to-stop-eggs-from-sticking result. Also, the thin handle feels cheesy and unnatural to your hand.

 "Amco is good stuff" 2009-05-17
By Eric Ivers (Bay Area, CA)
Bought the Amco spatula because of other Amco products i already owned. It is as good as I expected it to be. It does no damage to non-stick surfaces, and withstands heat well.

 "nice nylon spatula" 2009-02-07
By Douglas A. Carson (Durham, NC)
This will flip your flapjacks and protect your non-stick finish.

 "Melted with the Pancakes" 2009-01-28
By W. H. Slater
The spatula is useless for use on a typical pancake grill which operate at 400+ °F. The tip has melted with little pieces falling off. MY mistake, the information did state "Non-scratch blade is heat resistant to 400°F". I am down rating the item because it can only be used for a portion of the of normal work of a spatula in a kitchen and food sticks the spatula.

"The spatula I always reach for!" 2008-10-11
By J. King
I have lots of spatulas but this one is big and very useful for lifting things out of pans and flipping things like over-easy eggs or other delicate items. Perfect!
