"Really Good For Some Things..." 2009-10-16
By Avid Camper (USA)
This spatula is not the only one you will need, but for the things it is good at, it's indispensable! It's good for reaching the last bit of mayo out of the newer gallon-sized plastic (lumpy bottomed) jars, due to it's very long handle and pointy, very flexible tip. Good for loosening/flipping delicate eggy things, like crepes and pancakes. Also, good at loosening baked goods from pans without damage. It's good at scraping the very last bit of stuff from flat, irregular or somewhat concave surfaces, especially big items, like soup pots and large bowls. The blade is 5 1/8" long by slightly over 1 3/4" wide at it's longest/widest points with an overall length of 13 1/8", which means it may not fit in every drawer. I wish it came in a smaller version, with a narrower blade, for smaller mouth jars and such. Cleans up great in the dishwasher and even though, it's two piece, I've never had it trap water or dirt between handle and blade. It's somewhat translucent, so that's easy to see. The firmly attached blade is totally heat resistant to 600 degrees F. and so far, I haven't had any trouble with the handle either. Pretty inexpensive. I would buy this again.

 "Alternate use" 2009-03-03

Forget about scraping jars. What this product is really good at is loosening baked items from non-stick cookware, such as muffin pans or cake pans. The edge is thin enough to not damage the item, it won't scratch non-stick surfaces, and it's heatproof.

 "Wide and Floppy" 2009-02-26
By Goldie (Baltimore, MD)
I had high hopes for this product. Two problems withit made it not what I thought. 1) It's too wide to fit into narrow-mouthed containers. 2) It's so floppy, that it's difficult to get a really good scrape on the inside of a container. In all, a disappointment for the purpose for which I purchased it.

 "Don't do it" 2009-02-08
By G. Haring (Florida)
I like to scrape out jars & was looking to add to my silicone utensils. This was not the one to buy for many reasons. 1) it is a 2 piece unit - don't do it - only buy the "all in 1 piece" spatulas. 2) This tip of this spatula is WAY too pliable almost to the point of unuseable when using in jars, or anything else for that matter. I think I've used it twice & it just sits in the drawer. Shame of it is, I love the rest of my trudeaus. I had to buy another spatula set, some off-name brand from Amazon - it was 3 piece & red for $15 - to get a 1 piece useable jar scraper that I use all the time for not only jars but lots of "little" uses.

 "I Can't Believe I Love A Spatula" 2009-01-14
By C. Slasor (Central Florida)
For many, many years we have had an old long thin spatula that we use to scrape out stuff from the bottom of the jar, such as mayonnaise, spaghetti sauce, and so forth. Since this old spatula could not be put in the dishwasher it was getting harder and harder to get clean and I finally decided I could spring for a new one. Based on reviews and a whim I ordered this one.

I am so glad I did! Who would've thought they could have made such improvements to something as simple as a spatula? It doesn't stain (even with spaghetti sauce) and doesn't get all sticky and yucky in the dishwasher like the old one did. The end is soft and does a great job of getting around the bottom of jars - and when I decided to use it for getting batter out of pans I found that it gets out a LOT more of the batter than my stiffer spatulas do! And it's even a pretty color!

It definitely isn't the only spatula you'll ever need, and for some applications it won't be the best choice, but it certainly fills its niche perfectly.

This spatula, like other Oxo gadgets is basic, simple, fair priced, and good quality. Features that I like in a product. The silicone blade is nice in texture, flexibility. and toughness. I chose this over several other ones and I'm satisified.

 "Loved These Until..." 2009-03-20
By Avid Camper (USA)
I loved these so much I purchased 6 of them (always in the dishwasher). But after about 6 months or so, the bottom half of the two-piece handles came unglued, one by one, rendering them useless. I tried to find a way to glue them, but the handle is ridged inside with large hollow spaces, so I couldn't come up with an effective repair. Also, I didn't like that the handles trapped dirt and water, which would slowly leak out. However, they scraped very well, while they lasted. I would not buy again, unless handle is redesigned. I hope this helps.

 "I want one!" 2009-02-14
By MeScotty (Edmonds, WA USA)
I have an old spatula that I had cut down in size, to facilitate getting into narrow jars and cans. My brother happened to see it one day and thought it was a brilliant idea. Then, during Christmas, I was looking for an item to get my order over $25 (so I could have free SSS) when I spotted this spatula. Of course, I immediately bought it to give to my brother as a stocking stuffer. The only thing is...now I'm wondering why the heck I didn't buy myself one! Guess I'll do that next time I'm trying to reach $25. And by the way, it's an Oxo Good Grips, so you can be assured that it's a high quality product.

 "Great length!" 2009-01-13
By Carlotta Latte (NYC, NY)
Just a smart design. How many times do we leave a portion of mayo or sauce in a jar because we simply can't reach the bottom or find the tool to hit the edges? This will get it done. Well made, well priced. Buy it!

"Oxo Good Grips Silicone Jar Spatula a great purchase" 2008-12-25
By Jen's Mom (Oregon)
The Oxo Good Grips Silicone Jar Spatula is a great spatula. I bought several for my daughter and me. I could not find thin-bladed spatulas in the stores. They are long-handled to reach down into a tall jar and the blades are thin enough to get the last goodies out of a small-mouth jar. The silicone blade is soft and pliable, but resistant to high heat. They do a great job on scraping plates and pans, also.
