 "I love it" 2009-03-19
By LHM (Bellingham, WA United States)
I love this spatula. I keep it in my baking kit for culinary school and use it all the time. The beechwood handle feels good in my hand. I have several of the Mario Batali products in penne (yellow) color. They are very cute and easy to spot as mine.

"Rich, glossy color - sized more like a "mini" spatula" 2009-08-26
By Elizabeth
The Black Onyx color is gorgeous. It is rich and glossy, not dull. This is a beautiful utensil in my growing collection of Le Creuset Black Onyx.

The bamboo handle feels just right in the hand. The handle is generously sized at 7 3/4 inches.

Note: The spatula head does not look as pictured in the Amazon photo. It is 2 3/4" long by 1 3/8" wide. The silicone is safe up to 800 degrees Farenheit. The head is permanently attached. (Some Le Creuset silicone utensils have detachable heads for cleaning.)

Perfect for scooping out margarine to use in a skillet, stirring sauteed vegetables, or spreading a dab of mayonnaise. It is a versatile size I would not want to be without.

If you like this one, I suggest the Le Creuset Pasta Fork in Black Onyx.

NOTE: If you are looking for a less expensive spatula set, one with plastic handles, consider the Wilton Easy Flex Silicone Spatula 3 Piece Set. It was not for me, because the handles felt too small and it is not as eco-friendly, but it may be right for you.

I first became interested in the Le Creuset silicone utensils after I purchased the Cuisinart Multiclad Pro Stainless Steel 12-piece Cookware Set. The makers of this cookware recommend wooden or silicone utensils, not metal ones. I have been thrilled with these utensils as they absolutely will not scratch.

 "Valuable pastry tool" 2010-01-30
By Books and chocolate (TN)
Serious pie makers need this. One of the tools that when it's needed is invaluable. Lift that sticking bit. Support the crust as it's lifted into the pan. Wouldn't be without.

 "Great Kitchen Basic Tool" 2009-12-05
By Elaine S (Los Angeles, CA)
I use to own a similar tool years ago & would frequently wished I had it. This is a great replacement! I've only had it for a few weeks, but have used it many times. I made pies from scratch for Thanksgiving & this spatula made it so much easier to loosen the rolled-out dough & help lift it onto pie plates. Great size for lifting smaller cookies off the pan or lifting smaller cuts of cake, etc. It is more versatile in the kitchen than a butter knife for things like loosening the edges of a cake from the sides of a pan & then using it to serve pieces. An all-around great kitchen item. I never soak the handle in water & keep the wooden handle oiled periodically as I do with all my wooden cutting boards, bowls, handles, etc. to keep them from cracking or drying out. Very well made product that will last for years.

"Great quality for the price!" 2009-11-07
By E. England (Columbus, OH)
I was very impressed with the quality of the blade on this spatula. I bought it to replace a similar Wilton spatula and it makes the Wilton one seem flimsy. It costs about 1/3 the price of the current Wilton model. I decorate a lot of cakes and cookies and this type of spatula has become my #1 favorite essential tool.

 "Excelente utensilio" 2009-04-27
By Milagros J. Kassapian (Caracas, Venezuela)

 "kitchen spatula" 2009-02-19
By RockOn (Mid Atlantic)
This small kitchen spatula is a necessity in any kitchen; that of the accomplished chef or novice. It's uses range from spreading condiments, jams or peanut butter to icing cakes. It facilitates releasing baked goods from pans or can get that last little bit of mayo out of the jar. Its versitality makes it a must-have in the kitchen.

"Great for Crepes and more." 2010-01-06
By Ryan A Murphy (Baltimore, MD)
I've been looking for a good tool to use while making crepes and then i saw this. When i got it i used it a few days later and it worked perfectly. One edge is great for separating the crepe from the pan and the other to flip it. It seems like it might work for a lot of other purposes but i have yet to try it with anything else. Either way it seems as if it is sturdy and will last a while.

 "The perfect utensil" 2009-12-22
By L. Dubois (PA)
i had been looking for something like this for YEARS... finally found this and i couldn't be more thrilled. I use it to make omelets & when sauteing anything. I have had it for just about a year, looks the same as the day i bought it, yet i use it several times a week. In fact, i just bought a second one.

 "good quality" 2010-02-16
By Happy Mom
To me quality is the most important, closely followed by esthetics. This spatula gets an A+ on both. It's cute and functional. I actually own several of these in different sizes and love them all. The very top part is not permanently attatched to the handle, it's easy to slide on and off-- a very brainy thing to outfit a silicone spatula with since it elliminates food being trapped inside, and nothing gunky or smelly ever grows under!!! I also love the fact the spatula tips are not flimsy and have some resistance to them. Not a sigle complaint!

 "Not so small" 2010-02-10
By Anthony B., Snedgen (Gainesville, VA)
This spatuala is made well enough but I was looking for smaller size to use for getting the last bit out of small jars. While this will clean out a mayonaise jar, so will my large spatula that I prefer over this one.

 "It's Oxo and it's good" 2010-01-31
By Roger P. Grimshaw
All the Oxo stuff I've bought has worked fine. This has been no exception. I have a bunch of their spatulas and they get lots of use.

 "Useful, Easy to Clean" 2009-10-14
By E. Starks (Clifton, NJ)
I use this tool all the time for small jobs. The head comes off for easy cleaning, but I have never had a problem with it popping off during use like some of the cheaper spatulas I have used. I highly recommend this.

"you'll love silicone for cooking, scraping and spreading" 2008-11-15
By George Dennison (Lake Oswego, OR)
This summer I bought several Rubbermaid silicone spatulas & silicone spoon spatulas. I was disappointed they didn't have the half-spatulas, (jar scrapers, spreaders) in silicone. I recently added a variety of silicone spreaders and spatulas to a larger order of other items, (free shipping on all).

I can't say enough about silicone utensils - great for cooking, great for scraping and clean up easily. I soak my silverware before they go into the dishwasher. I added a second large yogurt container of soapy water for the silicone and rubber spatulas, etc.

Unless the food is oily, (mayo) or sticky, (peanut butter), I just rinse with hot water after a short soak.

Each type has it's own specific use, so one of each, at least, two if you can afford it. If you have to pick just one, get a jar scraper. If budget is two, add a spoon spatula.

In the long run, they will pay for themselves: silicone makes it possible to get 99.9% of food from a container. I have some brand-new rubber spatulas, it's hard to get a container or bowl as clean. The silicone glides, the rubber jerks across the surface.

I like the OXO handle, but the two piece design is a draw-back. I imagine gunk will get inside the blade, just like always. (if one piece design, would get 5 of 5)

 "Became an instant favorite" 2002-02-25
By D. Wolf (Fairfax, VA USA)
As a person who has always loved using wooden spoons for cooking, I was really surprised at how useful this tool is. Besides having a high heat tolerance, the best feature is its ability to reach effortlessly into the corners of saucepans. With wooden tools, I've always had to make a special effort to get into the edges to make sure things aren't sticking. With this spatula/spoon, that problem is gone completely.

"A Cooking Tool that Edges Its Way Into Every Meal" 2000-10-31
By
I received the Spoon Spatula as a gift and must say that after going through several spatulas a year from melting and staining, I still have my first Le Creuset. In the past years that I have used this tool, it has slowly become a part of every meal preparation. The high heat tolerance allows me to wipe soups and sauces off the sides of my pans while they're still on the stove, or right out of the oven. The spoon shape is great for sampling liquids and scraping bowls clean. I even use it for cooking tomato sauces, which always stained my old white and clear spatulas. I would recommend this to anyone, and when picking one out, make sure it's a color you like, because you'll be seeing it for several years.

"a disappointing shade of blue" 2009-02-14
By Mainiac (Portland, Maine, USA)
Others have said this with other Le Creuset silicone products, but I somehow thought it was just a problem with a specific product when reading. Take the color you imagine to be a brilliant Caribbean blue (and see illustrated here) and mix it with a healthy dose of gray. Then you have this color. It's not brilliant at all.

On the other hand, it's a very nice quality spatula. The wooden handle in particular is smooth and solid and pleasantly rounded. It's just a very disappointing color.

"Oxo Good Grips Small Wooden Turner" 2008-06-24
By Ginger Mendocino (Modesto, CA USA)
Excellent quality - much better than the supermarket type of wooden cooking utensil. This one should last quite a while. Highly Recommend.

 "Not a turner" 2008-04-03
By E. J Tastad (Marion, IA United States)
Despite the name, this is not useful as a turner since it is about 1/4" thick. It is better suited as a stirrer, but still not great for that as it has a flat edge (where a curved edge the shape of the pan would be better).

I bought this for filler for my free shipping, and I wouldn't buy another. The quality is good, but it is just not useful for the stated purpose. I will thin it up on my belt sander and hope it will work for a turner after I take 3/4ths of the material off.

"Spiffy spatula for the money" 2007-11-29
By Mary Ann Gantt (NC)
This small wooden turner works pretty well for stir fried foods. The only draw back is it is a little thick for an actual spatula - although it has a beveled edge. The bevel should go up a little higher. It would then be perfect as a turner or spatula and could handle eggs, etc.

 "It's a wooden turner." 2007-11-06
By Robert Duncan (Washington, DC)
Order this as a replacement. Decent quality one would expect from an OXO utensil. Great for using on non-stick pans!

 "Great for Crepes!!" 2009-11-15
By chrisly (IL USA)
I bought this to use with my crepe pan and ended up buying 2 more since everyone I have made crepes for has wanted ne as well.

Its much more flexible then a typical metal spatula yet not like a silicone baking one.

If you are into making crepes or just want to try making them, you just have to get one of these!!
