 "Oxo makes great tools" 2010-02-24
By SKC (USA)
I purchased the "Oxon Good Grips Nylon Asian Turner" and a few more Oxon tools. This is particularly useful in stir fry's and flips small and larger items well without scratching the surface of your wok or pan.

They are all well made and have the best handles of any kitchen tool you can buy. Even if you don't have arthritis these handles will save you from putting more pressure on your hands and give you a good grip wet or dry. I like them better than the all metal ones and if you are using non-stick surfaces or cast iron this is perfect.

 "Very good" 2010-01-03

The reason I purchased this was because I have a non-stick Wok. They work very good and clean up is awesome. I just purchased another so I have 2 on hand. OXO does make good products, very impressed....

 "Melts" 2009-03-05
By M. Mosley (Wichita, KS)
It's a great shape and fits my non-stick 14-inch wok perfectly. Nice long handle with a comfortable grip and it's very stiff. I'm not sure what these other reviewers are trying to stir-fry that is so heavy that it bends the handle. Lead pellets, perhaps. But unfortunately I didn't read the fine print until afterward - it is only heat resistant to 250 degrees, which is ice cold for a wok. (Actually, it's cold for just about anything; I mean, you make pancakes at 350!) Woks are supposed to used be over the highest heat your stove can produce. Ideally, for true traditional wok cooking, you'd want something even hotter, like a charcoal grill or an outdoor turkey-fryer burner. In my case I'm settling for an electric stove on high for every-day cooking, which isn't great but will do. But even then, this turner will melt in no time flat. It melted a little of the edge on the first use, and then a lot on the second use. It's going in the trash. Guess I'll try silicone or bamboo next, or maybe even metal and just act really gentle with it, I don't know. But this will just not do.

 "Great Stir-fry tool!" 2009-02-10
By First time mommy from NYC (USA)
I have a non-stick, flat-bottom wok and have been using a slighty wide-head silicone turner. It's not the greatest turner because the silicone makes it heavy and thick. I've been looking for a non-metal one for the longest time. I finally decided to get this one because it looks like the size of a typical Asian turner and it's not metal. I know that the nylon may melt abit along the edge if the wok is too hot. It happened to our OXO basic turner. I figured the whole point of wok cooking is stir-frying quickly so melting may not be a big issue. I also bought the Joyce Chen wooden version of a wok turner and it was very disappointing. It doesn't have enough bent to scoop up the food and the head is smaller than this one -- pretty useless -- good thing I bought it on sale.

Update as of 3/30/2009 -

I really like this turner...it's light and stir-fries quite well. I cook Asian dishes everyday and haven't had any problems with the melting. I usually stir-fry very quickly...just 1-2 tosses, let it cook and repeat again when needed until it's done. The weight of the turner makes a difference when you need to cook a several-course meal. So far this one works for me.

"The good and the bad" 2006-04-17
By East Bay Phil (Albany, CA United States)
Good:

not as bendy as the prior review had me fearing. YMMV. Like my stainless oxo turner, a perfect shape for the wok. However, being plastic, it's better suited to cast iron woks.

Bad:

If you really dig around ar scrape the heated surface wit this item, the end melts and scrapes-off. I have a feeling that I'm going to use this until I establish the seasoning on a few new pieces of cast iron, then I'll switch back to the oxo stainless turner.

 "A must-have for rice lovers" 2009-05-12
By amazon_4_everything (NY, USA)
I have been looking for a rice paddle that was not too big since I have a small rice cooker, and one that was easy to wash. This paddle is perfect! It has a very smooth finish (not a varnished wood look though) thus making it very easy to wash, especially when the rice is really sticky! The paddle itself is pretty solid and is of good quality. A good buy!

 "Perfect, Simple" 2009-04-11

I love it because it is easier to clean than the expensive wooden spoon I got from a department store. It's simple and does the job. Also, per the other review, it is a little darker in color, but very nice!

 "Bamboo is great!" 2008-12-24
By Lee (Arizona)
There's not a whole lot you can say about a rice paddle but I can say that I'm very glad I bought it. It's sturdy, good looking and very inexpensive. The bamboo surface is smooth so it's easy to clean. It feels much nicer serving up rice with a bamboo paddle than with a plastic spoon. If you like cooking rice then you will absolutely be happy with this! Well worth the money.

 "Inexpensive and Great Quality" 2008-09-25
By EdGruberman (Tucson, AZ)
In the end it's just a rice paddle. But this is a very inexpensive one that is great quality. Bamboo seems to last forever and this one has a nice look and feel to it. Better than I expected compared to some other really cheap ones I've bought before in the supermarket.

The existing picture is a bit misleading. The one I got has a small engraving in it's end (I think "Helen's Kitchen" but it's very stylized and kind of small, so the second word is almost illegible). And mine is a bit of a darker tan color as compared to the almost light yellowish-white look of the picture. It also has a hole in the end of it if you want to hang it somewhere, I guess.

I think I like what I got better than the picture led me to believe what I had purchased.
