This might become your favorite kitchen tool. In the great tradition of winning combinations like brunch and spork, we present Spoonula, a clever combo of spoon and spatula by Rubbermaid ¿ and a clear utensil winner!! Heat resistant up to 400 degrees, there is perhaps no more perfect kitchen tool to use when stirring soups, stews, sauces and so on. Its smooth rubber head helps keep even the stickiest pot-roasts off the pot sides while stirring. It's lightweight and comfortable for long hours at the stove, and its slightly concave shape makes Spoonula perfect for taste-tasting that tomato and herb sauce you're making from scratch! And because it's part spatula and part spoon, it can be used for everything from de-panning cookies to serving potatoes! Last but not least, for beauty, Spoonula is a winner, too. In bright red, a striking accessory for today's hottest-colored kitchens! 9 1/2"

Use this a lot. Pretty flexible kitchen tool, and I'm happy I bought it.

I'm the muffin queen. Previously I used a spoon followed by a spatula in my morning muffin making, but now I only have to use one tool. It is a little more difficult to gauge the quantity of batter that I remove from the bowl to put in the muffin pan, but maybe that will get easier with experience. For mixing and scraping the spoonula can't be beat!

 "Great kitchen tool" 2009-04-02
By The Writing Chef (Los Angeles)
These are great. I've had versions of these for 15 years, but they finally fell apart, so it was time for new ones. Best-designed kitchen spatulas I've owned... and the only ones that really can get all the contents out of a bowl. And believe me, I cook a lot!

 "Great Tool!" 2008-07-18

We have the Rubbermaid Heat Resistant spoonulas and spatulas in several sizes, and duplicates of the smaller ones. We use them for everything in the kitchen. They do not stain, melt, or degrade in any way. They withstand the dishwasher very well, and are virtually indestructible. I even mixed a small batch of concrete patch with the largest one! The dried mix washed right off.

Each of my daughters-in-law got a pair in their Christmas stocking last year. I highly recommend these utensils.

"Just the right amount of flexibility and so far is pretty stain resistant" 2008-01-04
By D. Henderson (Baltimore, MD)
These silicone spatulas are the highly recommended ones from a leading cooking magazine. So I purchased all these Rubbermaid professional heat resistant spatulas and spoonulas (9 ½", 13 ½" and 16 ½" in length). I use the spatulas primarily for folding ingredients in a mixing bowl. I prefer to use the spoonulas for scraping a bowl when I want to scrape out every last bit of cooking goodness (the edges of the spoonulas are thinner and the cupping of the spoonulas both help to scrape bowls, pans, and pots clean). The Rubbermaid professional plastic handles are more comfortable to use than the wood handles on my heat resistant spatulas and spoonulas. Also, the silicone heads of my wood handle ones are stiffer than the Rubbermaid professional ones. I think that little bit of flex in the Rubbermaid Professional silicone heads helps me scrape cleaner.

I have yet to use the little notch on these spatulas for scraping under the opening of jars (I think they were intended for use on the commercial kitchen size jars) since the spatulas are 2 ¼" wide for the 9 ½" to 2 ¾" wide for the 13 ½" and 16 ½" long tools. The handle ends have small prongs that look like they are to help keep the entire spatula or spoonulas from sliding into a work bowl.

I have some older Rubbermaid ones and they are definitely not stain resistant: the paprika has permanently stained one of the mixing spatulas. I was able to remove the paprika stain from the Rubbermaid professional spatula using dishwashing liquid and a nylon Scotchbright like pad. Also, my older Rubbermaid heat resistant spoonula developed a split at the tip and has warped a bit.

I just realized that one of the reasons why I don't like my similar sized 13 ½" sized silicone spatulas and spoonulas with wood handles: the working end is heavy so the tool is not as balanced as these Rubbermaid Professionals.

For most home kitchens, I'd recommend buying the 9 ½' and 13 ½" size spatulas and spoonulas. There is a 16 ½" size that is very long and the silicone head is the exact same size as the 13 ½: (14" actual) size (4" X 2 ¾").

PROS: The silicone heads have just the right amount of flex to scrape cleaner than similar sized scrapers and spoonulas. The handles are more comfortable and sized well.

CONS: A bit expensive but you a get a tool likely to last.

By Rubbermaid, an all-purpose scraper, heat resistant to 400 degrees. Perfect for use in the breakfast pan, on the cookie sheet, and even in the mayonnaise jar (small scraper). It's a great matching piece for the heat resistant Spoonula, also made by Rubbermaid. Count on Rubbermaid for quality materials and construction, durability and long-term use. 13 1/2"

 "Great Scraper!" 2009-08-28
By S. VanAtta
I bought this item on approval from "The Americas Test Kitchen Family Baking Book". I was a little hesitant about spending fifteen bucks for a spatula, but Im glad I did. I was surprised by how large it was, but I was even more surprised in how it performed. The large blade made folding and scraping very easy. The blade is tough enough to plow through very sticky/heavy bread doughs, and Im always able to scrape every morsel out of the bowl. It hasnt stained and shows no sign of wear. Great product!

"The Go To Spatula in my Kitchen (I'd rather clean this one than use another!)" 2009-07-17
By J. Parks
Bought this after the very favorable review from Cook's Illustrated. I can tell why they love it.

Firm blade with various shapes and sides for various tasks. Nice, firm, long handle with a very nice in-hand feel.

I also have such a spatula with a metal grip - and I will reach for this over the metal grip (more expensive) spatula every time.

Excellent product - I might go so far as to order another one to put in the pantry just in case this gets discountinued.

Per Cooks Illustrated review, I purchased this and am very satisfied. Was surprised at how big it was relative to my other spatulas.

"Blade too large and hard" 2009-07-03
By Steven L. Hunter (Livermore, CA)
I bought this on recommendation from America's Test Kitchen, but the blade is too large and hard. I don't use this much at all.
