 "Disappointing" 2010-02-18
By Tiffany Shiao
This turner has a comfortable grip handle, a sturdy nylon surface, and a nicely angled edged. But all the design advantages are outweighed by one flaw: the nylon melts. And not only that, the nylon started peeling into my food! I would not recommend at all.

"Waste of money even if it was free" 2008-04-10
By C. Moretti
I bought this because it looked like a great turner and for most purposes it is. It's large with nice beveled edges and works great with pancakes, BUT after using it for just two months, for the sole purpose of turning pancakes, it is peeling off of the turning edge. I have been peeling the loose nylon off to avoid it getting in my food. The nylon is coming off more each time I use it, and today I had to throw it away. This turner was used ONLY to turn pancakes at med heat. The turner was never left near or on a heat source or even used under higher temps for anything else. I would not recommend it at all.

"NOT the same as the last one I bought" 2008-03-09
By Stuart Scolnik (Washington DC)
I loved the first one I bought. Bought a second, yikes. It must be the nylon. It's too rigid and melting. My original silicone one rocks. I'm gonna keep looking for a silicone turner, and so should you.

 "Great spatula" 2008-01-08

How does one review a spatula? Well, it works well. My last spatula left. It just vanished. I hope this one (solid & nice grip) hangs around.

 "Cuisinart Nylon Turner review" 2007-12-18
By W. D. Wampler (USA)
Prior to buying, did research on turners; this was one of 3 best I found.

Good: The beveled edges do a good job of handling food products.

Poor: Even with spraying, food sticks to the spatula just like all other spatulas; not worth the extra money, including shipping, paid for the product.

 "Oxo makes great tools" 2010-02-24
By SKC (USA)
I purchased the "Oxon Good Grips Nylon Asian Turner" and a few more Oxon tools. This is particularly useful in stir fry's and flips small and larger items well without scratching the surface of your wok or pan.

They are all well made and have the best handles of any kitchen tool you can buy. Even if you don't have arthritis these handles will save you from putting more pressure on your hands and give you a good grip wet or dry. I like them better than the all metal ones and if you are using non-stick surfaces or cast iron this is perfect.

The reason I purchased this was because I have a non-stick Wok. They work very good and clean up is awesome. I just purchased another so I have 2 on hand. OXO does make good products, very impressed....

 "Melts" 2009-03-05
By M. Mosley (Wichita, KS)
It's a great shape and fits my non-stick 14-inch wok perfectly. Nice long handle with a comfortable grip and it's very stiff. I'm not sure what these other reviewers are trying to stir-fry that is so heavy that it bends the handle. Lead pellets, perhaps. But unfortunately I didn't read the fine print until afterward - it is only heat resistant to 250 degrees, which is ice cold for a wok. (Actually, it's cold for just about anything; I mean, you make pancakes at 350!) Woks are supposed to used be over the highest heat your stove can produce. Ideally, for true traditional wok cooking, you'd want something even hotter, like a charcoal grill or an outdoor turkey-fryer burner. In my case I'm settling for an electric stove on high for every-day cooking, which isn't great but will do. But even then, this turner will melt in no time flat. It melted a little of the edge on the first use, and then a lot on the second use. It's going in the trash. Guess I'll try silicone or bamboo next, or maybe even metal and just act really gentle with it, I don't know. But this will just not do.

 "Great Stir-fry tool!" 2009-02-10
By First time mommy from NYC (USA)
I have a non-stick, flat-bottom wok and have been using a slighty wide-head silicone turner. It's not the greatest turner because the silicone makes it heavy and thick. I've been looking for a non-metal one for the longest time. I finally decided to get this one because it looks like the size of a typical Asian turner and it's not metal. I know that the nylon may melt abit along the edge if the wok is too hot. It happened to our OXO basic turner. I figured the whole point of wok cooking is stir-frying quickly so melting may not be a big issue. I also bought the Joyce Chen wooden version of a wok turner and it was very disappointing. It doesn't have enough bent to scoop up the food and the head is smaller than this one -- pretty useless -- good thing I bought it on sale.

Update as of 3/30/2009 -

I really like this turner...it's light and stir-fries quite well. I cook Asian dishes everyday and haven't had any problems with the melting. I usually stir-fry very quickly...just 1-2 tosses, let it cook and repeat again when needed until it's done. The weight of the turner makes a difference when you need to cook a several-course meal. So far this one works for me.

"The good and the bad" 2006-04-17
By East Bay Phil (Albany, CA United States)
Good:

not as bendy as the prior review had me fearing. YMMV. Like my stainless oxo turner, a perfect shape for the wok. However, being plastic, it's better suited to cast iron woks.

Bad:

If you really dig around ar scrape the heated surface wit this item, the end melts and scrapes-off. I have a feeling that I'm going to use this until I establish the seasoning on a few new pieces of cast iron, then I'll switch back to the oxo stainless turner.

 "my favorite" 2007-12-05
By Cheryl A. Considine (Carson City, NV, USA)
I don't know how hot R.J.'s wok is, but my turner didn't melt. (Maybe R.J. let the turner rest in the pan? Don't do that - stir, then take it out. :) I've looked everywhere locally and lots of places online for a chuan or wok spatula safe for a non-stick skillet - this is the closest to ideal I've found. I would appreciate it if the scoop were a little deeper so that the capacity were larger, and if any of you have a recommendation please let me know! Meanwhile, I'm ordering spares for me and extras for my friends.

"Still better than a narrow turner" 2007-02-14
By B. Morgan (Centralia, WA)
I agree with the other reviewer, mine has become slightly more curved over the few months that I've had it. It's not dishwashed, I don't leave it in a hot pan, and rarely left it "face down" on the counter because I'm weird about cross contamination. The curve of the turner is more pronounced than it was when I bought it, but it's still better for flipping than my narrow turners are. Especially my good sized pancakes, no run off on the sides from sagging over the edges of a narrow turner. I still recommend this turner. And the colors are great.

 "High quality, great design" 2009-08-19
By Zaine Ridling (Missouri, US)
Took a chance on this turner and it paid off, and wow, I love it! It's the perfect size for so many tasks in the pan. It's handle is heavy duty metal with a soft rubber grip. Its spatula section is firm but flexible, and it's thin enough to easily slide underneath delicate items like eggs and fish. I've been pretty rough with it when using my iron pans to see how it would stand up and it has come across unblemished. The slots disperse heat well. I will definitely buy a second one.

 "Great Soft-Grip Turner" 2008-11-30
By K. Hennigan (USA)
I love the Analon soft-grip utensils. This one is no exception.

The turner part (is there a special name for it?) is only slightly flexible, so if you're looking for one of those bendy ones, this isn't it. Otherwise, this solidly-built turner will do the trick.

 "This is great!" 2007-09-10
By Tootsie (CT)
Many turners these days seem to have a curved edge at the bottom that I don't care for. I have trouble finding one that is straight like this. I did buy a cheap $3.00 Ecko turner with a straight edge but it is really to flimsy to stir and lift food well. This has a nice edge on it, does not scratch my pans, and is very firm. Worth every penny! I wish they sold one that is not slotted also but I haven't been able to find a mini turner without the slots. Also, I have shallow drawers in my kitchen and this does not have a large angle in the neck so it fits in my drawer nicely!

 ""Mini Turner"" 2007-08-08
By Barbara Bullen
Don't be fooled by the "Mini" turner title. This is just a regular size spatula. It is a full 3 1/2 inches wide. The description makes it sound like it is 1 1/2 inches wide. I was looking for a true mini turner to use in a mini one-egg pan. This is just like all the other turners I have, I am going to return it and ask Amazon to change the description.

 "Perfect." 2009-06-14
By M. M. Poor (Forney, TX United States)
I found this item when searching for an Oneida stainless steel one that looked almost identical, though heavier. As it turns out, this was was almost identical, only it was lighter and easier to use. It seems to wash and wear well in spite of being light. I intend to buy a few more, as it has been ideal for turning pancakes, eggs, and even burgers in the skillet. The price was also attractive.

 "Works fine for me" 2008-01-11
By Adam Wood (Tucson, AZ USA)
I bought this for flipping pancakes on my double-burner griddle and to match my new Anolon cookware. It works just fine for me. Great size for pancakes, doesn't stick to the pancakes too much, and it cleans up easily. It matches my other Anolon utensils, has good build quality, and works a little better than my Oxo nylon turner that cost about as much. I'm glad that I got it.

 "Useless" 2008-01-01
By Shelby Morgen (www.ChangelingPress.com)
Bought this because I also bought a non-stick sauté pan and didn't want to scratch up the non-stick coating. For some reason I expected the Nylon turner to not only not scratch the pan, but also be able to separate and flip eggs. Wrong. Everything -- especially eggs -- sticks to this turner. The edges are naturally a tad dull so they won't scratch, but my bamboo turner isn't sharp, either, and I can separate one easy-over egg from another with it. By the time I slither the eggs away from each other with this it's too gummed up to get it under the eggs to flip them. Cleaning it's no piece of cake either -- the eggs stick to it so badly I have to scrape them off with another turner. Truly the most useless piece of kitchenware I've purchased in a long time.
