Bought this for the wife as she has just started a cake decorating class and she is making massive amounts of frosting. ;) She says it works very well and the only drawback might be that it is made of plastic and not cast.

According to KitchenAid customer service, this product is not licensed or manufactured by KitchenAid and using it can actually damage your mixer. It creates more friction on the gears of the mixer and can eventually cause premature failure.

I've used this blade several times and still don't know if I like or not. It does keep the batter off the bump in the bottom of the bowl and scrapes the sides down pretty good, but it has a tendency to throw your batter out of the bowl. I usually use a medium speed so I'm thinking it should not do that. Maybe my adjustment is off. I don't know but I don't think it's all it's cracked up to be.

I have had my KitchenAid mixer for at least 15 years now, and I always hate having to go and scrape the bottom of the bowl, since it is too much trouble to take off the splash guards and lift the head of the mixer to scrape it thoroughly. Wonder why KitchenAid never made an attachment like this one? Best buy I have ever made for my kitchen....since my KitchenAid mixer! Definitely buy this!

This beater is probably the greatest invention since the mixer in and of itself!! It completely eliminates scraping the bowl during use.
Gone are the days when you had to stop the mixer and scrape down the bowl
several times during the mixing process of cake batters, cookie doughs and frostings as well as for creaming butter & sugar for batters!!
As a result, you get up to 50% more mixing in less time that even the flat beater that came with your machine!! Even the dimple at the bottom of the bowl gets scraped! The tecnologically designed Metro Beater Blade makes short work of all your regular mixing tasks.
